About Me
Who am I?
My name is Daniel—a human being, artist, photographer, and visual storyteller based in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
What do I do?
I specialize in capturing nature’s simple beauties, whether it’s the vastness of a landscape or the intricate details most people might overlook. My work is about bringing a fresh perspective to Mother Nature—one shaped by emotional intent. I feature my work on my socials through images paired with reflective captions and carefully chosen music. Together, they create a pause, a moment of mindfulness, and an opportunity to feel.
How did I start?
In February 2023, I bought my first camera—a decision that aligned with the last time I consumed alcohol. Photography became a new outlet, replacing one addictive behavior with another—one that taught me the power of slowing down and observing life’s small, simple moments.
During this time, "mindful.jpeg" was born—a reflection of what photography taught me: to be mindful and fully present in the world around me.
I took four months off work to clear my head and set off to Australia and New Zealand—some of the most captivating and breathtaking places I’ve ever been. Through trial, error, and quiet observation, I taught myself the mechanics of photography. That time allowed me to be patient, to learn, and to feel deeply connected to the world I was capturing.
People often ask me how I see or think about a particular composition. My answer is simple: because it felt right. I shoot with emotional intent. If something stirs something within me, I sit with it, experiment, and explore until I’ve captured the essence of that moment.
What inspires me?
Nature, music, and life’s small, overlooked beauties are constant sources of inspiration.
- Nature reminds me to slow down and be present.
- Music brings an emotional layer to my creative process, often shaping the mood or tone I aim to capture.
- Small, fleeting moments—like the warmth of golden light on fallen leaves—offer endless opportunities to pause, observe, and appreciate the world as it is.
My creative process is simple, slow, and deliberate. Nature provides an opportunity to be still and observe, which allows me to get out of my head and into the present moment.
What makes my work unique?
I aim to create images that make you feel. My work is intended to stir something in you—whether it’s a sense of nostalgia, calm, or wonder. It’s about capturing the emotions and beauty of a fleeting moment and holding it still, just long enough to share.
You can expect tranquil, thought-provoking, and emotionally resonant pieces designed to slow you down, even just for a moment.
What’s my mission?
From the moment I shared my work publicly, my sole intention has always been to change the world.
If my work has touched even one person’s life—made them pause, reflect, or observe the world through a different lens—then my entire body of work will have been worth it. I want to leave the world a better place than I found it.
